Frequently Asked Questions
What is it?
A head set top cap is used to preload the bearings in the headset of a bicycle. Just about every modern bicycle uses this system.
Will it fit my bike?
The top caps measure 32 mm in diameter so will fit any bike with a 1 1/8″ headset. This covers most road and mountain bikes but as more standards are produced it is best to check your size. We will be adding size options in the near future
How do I fit the top cap?
Top caps are very easy to fit, usually all you will need is a 5 mm allen key. Simply undo the bolt holding your existing top cap in place. Remove the old top cap and replace it with the new one. Make sure any spacers are put back in place too. Then simply insert the bolt and carefully tighten no more than hand tight.
How do I personalise the top cap?
The top caps can be personalised with just about anything. When you make a purchase, in the ‘Checkout’ section you will be asked to leave a ‘Note to Seller’. In this box you can leave a description of what you would like on the cap. We will then send you a draft so you can see how the top cap will look and any adjustments can be made. If you have a specific design or logo you would like us to use these can be sent to info@bespoketopcaps.co.uk
Can you add colours?
Unfortunately not. We use a state of the art laser to etch into the anodising of the top cap. This produces a white/grey finish (this can vary depending on the aluminium use and the anodising).
How long does it take?
Turn around is usually 1-2 working days. The top caps are then posted out using Royal Mail First Class.
Do you accept returns?
Due to the personalised nature of the product we are unable to accept any returns. If there is a mistake on our part please contact us immediately and a replacement will be sent out.
Do you offer discounts for large orders?
Yes! just drop us an email with how many caps you would like and we will get back to you with a quote.
